Background

I began teaching college courses in 2000 after serving a small congregation in Springfield for twelve years. In that time I was active in the Ministerial Alliance and served one term as president. I began the 00Sp semester as an adjunct instructor teaching both American History survey courses at OTC and later the Religion & the State in Western Civilization and Role of Public Address in Am. Society courses at Southwestern Missouri State. I became a full time instructor at OTC in August 2001 and since then I have taught all seven of the Philosophy, Religion, and Humanities courses. I have taught online but most of my sections have been face to face. In addition, I have taught Religious Pluralism in the US as a sophomore seminar course as well as Philosophy and Humanities courses for the Honors program.

Joy of Teaching

Ideas matter. They can open worlds we did not know existed and provide us with knowledge that shakes us to our core. My passion is to convey the intrinsic value of confronting perennial paradoxes and digging into the questions they raise. What makes a right action right? How free am I? Is love real or what do I mean by love?; what do I mean by real?; and what do I mean by I?
