The Baking Arts program at OTC teaches students how to create, present and serve delectable pastries and baked goods. In addition to helping students hone their craft, our experienced instructors also teach students about the business side of the foodservice industry including how to manage workers and purchase ingredients. Some students will also have the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned by working in our on-campus restaurant, Scallions. Our graduates find work in a variety of settings from managing restaurants to starting their own bakeries.
We offer an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Culinary Arts: Baking and Pastry and a Certificate of Achievement in Baking Arts. Students in both programs take courses in food preparation, baking, dessert presentation and more. Courses include Food Preparation & Theory, Cake Decorating and Specialty Breads. The A.A.S. program provides students with well-rounded coursework while the certificate program is for students seeking skills for immediate employment.
This program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC).
