OTC Respiratory Therapy Program
The Respiratory Therapy Program prepares students for careers as Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs). Respiratory therapists provide specialized care for patients experiencing problems with their cardiopulmonary systems. Their duties typically include operating life support systems, assessing lung damage, setting up artificial airways and much more. Respiratory therapists can work with patients of all ages from premature infants to the elderly.
The Bachelor of Science Program teaches students advanced clinical concepts, research practices and leadership skills. This is a limited and selective enrollment program, which admits a new class each Spring semester. This program also requires a separate application in addition to the application for general admission to OTC. To view application details, visit otc.edu/alliedhealth. Graduates can immediately seek state licensure and will be qualified to take the national registry exam. OTC Respiratory Therapy graduates find work in a variety of healthcare settings including clinics, hospitals, emergency rooms and intensive care units.
