The OTC Life Sciences Department’s mission is to support students as they learn about the living world around them. Our department includes both the Biology and the Health Education programs. Each area has a unique place in our college. Our experienced faculty teach students to appreciate, respect and understand life and its reciprocal relationship with our community.
We offer the Associate of Science in Biology Degree Program, which is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field. Students in this program will study foundational topics in life science and general biology. We also offer courses in environmental science and microbiology.
The Life Sciences Department also carries health education courses including Introduction to Health Professions (HLT-100) and Lifetime Wellness (HLT-101). These courses give students an overview of various health professions and teach them how to address community health issues through exercise and other healthy habits.
