Darla has been working with young children since high school, when she volunteered as a preschool teacher at a church and served on several outreach trips for kids in inner cities. She graduated from Evangel University with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. She taught second grade for four years, has been an ECD adjunct instructor for six years at OTC and is now an Assistant Teacher in the 2’s & 3’s classroom at OTC’s Early Childhood Education Center.
She continues to volunteer in various kids programs at a local church and has been involved in Conscious Discipline in-services for several years.
Darla absolutely loves building connections with kids and teaching them foundational social & emotional skills while they are young. Also, she feels the ECD department is filled with the best people around and so blessed to have such caring and supportive directors, co-workers, and classroom families.
