Russ Murphy has been in the HVAC industry for over 30 years. He started his career as a Technical Trades Assistant in the Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC Departments at Evangel University. He was fortunate to work under the supervision and training of a Master Plumber, Master Electrician and Master of Mechanical Systems (HVAC/R). Under that training and mentoring, he was able to learn valuable skills that helped him earn a Master of Mechanical Systems license and then a BBA in Business Management degree.
Russ’s favorite part of teaching in the HRA Program at OTC is mentoring students and passing along the skills and knowledge that he has learned. He strives to be the same positive influence on students that his mentors were towards him. As of Fall 2022, he serves as both a Heating, Refrigeration and Air Instructor and the Construction Trades Department Chair which includes the Construction, Electrical and Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning programs.
