Since fixing his Aunt and Uncle’s computer at age 8, Ross Lowrance has been interested in technology. A self-described “Tinker”, Ross enjoys merging science, technology, and the arts. A life-long fan of computer and console games, in high school Ross began to explore video production and editing, leading to the discovery of the concept of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS); this later inspired Ross to incorporate Open Educational Resources (OER) into his curriculum in attempt to increase student access by lowering costs.

Prior to joining OTC, Ross worked for ResNet @ Missouri State for six years, while engaging in freelance IT support, website design and development, and mobile application development.

Ross earned his associate’s degree in Electronic Media Production from OTC in 2010, as well as his bachelor’s in Digital Film Production in 2012, a graduate certificate in Screenwriting in 2014, and his master’s in Communication in 2017, all from Missouri State University.

In the fall of 2018, Ross joined the Springfield campus as an adjunct Public Speaking instructor. The following semester, he took over for Dr. Tiffany Ford’s section of Systems Analysis & Design and was hired as the lead CIS instructor at the OTC Table Rock Campus in the fall of 2019.
