OTC Behavioral Sciences Department
The mission of the behavioral science department is to educate students in these disciplines who can apply that knowledge to pursue professional interests, acquire academic skills to transfer, and to enrich personal life. Our faculty are committed to providing a personal classroom experience that presents a knowledge base in the behavioral sciences, promotes critical thinking and problem solving, and raises social awareness and personal consciousness that lead to social action and social change for the betterment of the community, society, and the individual.
Goals/Objectives
Goal 1 – Knowledge Base of Behavioral Science
Outcomes:
- Describe key concepts, principles, and overarching themes in behavioral science
- Develop a working knowledge of behavioral sciences content domains
- Describe applications of behavioral science
Goal 2 – Scientific Inquiry and Critical Thinking
Outcomes:
- Use scientific reasoning to interpret phenomena
- Demonstrate behavioral science information literacy
- Engage in innovate and integrative thinking and problem solving
- Interpret, design, and conduct basic research
