Beginning January 2025 we are offering the ETS-ParaPro

What is the ETS-ParaPro Assesment?

The ParaPro Assessment is a general aptitude test for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals that measures your:

  • skills and knowledge in reading, writing and math
  • ability to apply them when assisting in classroom instruction

It’s required for certification in many states. See the State Requirements to see if it’s required in your state.

The Paraprofessional Assessment

Paraprofessionals are required to hold a substitute certificate, have 60 college hours OR have passed the Paraprofessional Assessment in order to work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to provide instructional assistance. The Paraprofessional Assessment is required for individuals seeking to be employed as teaching assistants residing in Title I schools. The test measures competencies in English language arts and basic mathematics skills for practicing and prospective paraprofessionals. Please see the DESE Website for more information here.
