What is the MoGEA and the Paraprofessional Test?

MoGEA (Missouri General Education Assessment)

Students seeking entry into a Missouri Educator Preparation program must pass the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA). Alternatively, students can be accepted if they receive a composite score of 17 on the ACT. MoGEA serves as OTC’s Associate in Arts in Teaching’s (AAT) required assessment exam.

MoGEA is comprised of four subtests, each with passing scores determined by the institution. Students transferring to another institution should contact that institution to determine required scores for the program they transfer into. Below shows OTC’s AAT program required scores for MoGEA:

Test # Subject Minimum Passing Score
066 Reading Comprehension 183
067 Writing 167
068 Mathematics 180
069 Science and Social Science 188

The Paraprofessional Assessment

Paraprofessionals are required to hold a substitute certificate, have 60 college hours OR have passed the Paraprofessional Assessment in order to work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to provide instructional assistance. The Paraprofessional Assessment is required for individuals seeking to be employed as teaching assistants residing in Title I schools.
