OTC Department of Mathematics

The mission of the OTC Mathematics Department is to support students in learning the numerical skills and analytical abilities that will enable them to solve problems they will encounter both in their careers and their future academic pursuits. We also supply the mathematical knowledge needed for their degree and to prepare transfer students for further study in mathematics. Studying mathematics is vital for the development of logical reasoning and problem-solving skills that are useful in any profession.

We offer the Associate of Science in Mathematics, which is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a degree in mathematics or a related discipline. Our course topics include college algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus and geometry. After completing mathematics coursework, students should be able to clearly communicate mathematical concepts using correct terminology and notation, read, interpret, analyze and synthesize data and make reasoned conclusions, apply and use mathematical models to solve problems and much more.
