Institutions accredited by any of the following are considered “regionally accredited institution of higher education”:

  • Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges Western Association of Schools and Colleges
  • Higher Learning Commission
  • Middle States Commission on Higher Education
  • New England Commission of Higher Education
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

Minimum Credentials Required for Medical Laboratory Technician:

  • An earned American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
  • And an earned Master’s of Science Health, Science Education

NOTE: 3 years or more of experience as a credentialed Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is preferred

Minimum Credentials Required for Auto Collision Repair:

  • 5 years of employment experience in the industry or a related field
  • An Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) in the program field of study (ASE or ICAR certification)

NOTE: Applicants with an earned Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education preferred.

Minimum Credentials Required for Hire to Teach in Accounting:

  • 5-10 years industry experience
  • And an earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting.
  • Tested experience may be utilized, with the completion of a bachelor’s degree, to teach introductory courses or specific work experience-related courses. Tested experience is defined as a minimum of seven years of work experience in the field within the previous ten years.
  • OR, be a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Minimum Credentials Required to Teach in Agriculture:

  • 5 years of industry experience with current credentials or licenses.
  • Or an earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least 18 hours of graduate credit hours in a combination of Agriculture-related fields.
  • Tested experience may be utilized, with the completion of a bachelor’s degree, to teach introductory courses or specific work experience-related courses. Tested experience is defined as a minimum of seven years of work experience in the field within the previous ten years.

NOTE: Applicants with credentials in AG Business and Veterinary Science will also be considered

Minimum Credentials Required for Hire to Teach in Art:

  • An earned Master’s degree in Art from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Or an earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a combination of the following qualifying fields:
    • Art
    • Art History
    • Graphic Arts
  • Tested experience may be substituted for the 18 graduate hours listed above (Bachelor’s degree still required). Tested experience is defined as a minimum of seven years of work experience in the field within the previous ten years.

NOTE: Applicants with professional art career experience will also be considered

Minimum Credentials Required for Hire to Teach in American Sign Language:

  • An earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least 18 graduate credit hours
  • Or a demonstrated and documented American Sign Language (ASL) competency at near-native fluency, including but not limited to:
    • Missouri Interpreter Certification Level 4 or higher
    • Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) Advanced or higher
    • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Certification
  • And an earned Associate level degree in a deaf-related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • And experience teaching ASL at the Post Secondary level

NOTE: Desirable qualifications include an earned Master’s degree in a deaf-related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) certification, Missouri Interpreter Certification Level 5, SCPI with a Superior or higher rating, and/or being a native signer.

      • An earned Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Exercise Science with graduate course work in Anatomy and Physiology OR
  • For BCS 132:
      • An earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and a minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing as a licensed professional in a related health care field (such as R.N., R.D., etc.) OR
      • An earned Master’s degree in Nutrition from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • For BCS 165:
      • An earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and a minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing as a licensed radiology technician
  • For BCS 200:
      • An earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and a minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing as a licensed Medical Laboratory Technician OR
  • For BCS 200:
      • An earned Master’s Degree Epidemiology from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • For BCS 210:
      • An earned Master’s Degree in Public Health from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

NOTE:  Courses in the Associate of Arts in Business (AAB) curriculum must be taught by a Master’s Degree teacher or someone who is considered professionally qualified, based on Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accreditation standards.

  • An earned Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience using/teaching computer programming in C#, .NET, C++, and/or Java
  • Experience using/teaching database technologies such as MSSQL

 

  • Availability to teach morning and afternoon seated classes is strongly preferred

  • 5-10 years industry experience
  • Or an earned Associate of Applied Science degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and industry experience and current teaching experience

Minimum Credentials Required for Culinary:

  • An earned Associate level degree in Culinary Arts from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • And and earned ranking from American Culinary Federation of Certified Culinarian or higher
  • And a minimum of 2 years of past industry experience in the Hospitality or Culinary field in a supervisory or management position

Minimum Credentials Required for Dental Assisting:

  • A background in and current knowledge of
    • dental assisting
    • the specific subjects they are teaching
    • and educational theory and methodology consistent with teaching assignments, e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation
  • Faculty providing didactic instruction must also have an earned baccalaureate degree or be continuously enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at an institution that grants four-year degrees
  • Laboratory, preclinical, and clinical faculty must hold any current dental assisting credential required by the state in addition to a Dental Assisting National Board “Certified  Dental Assistant” credential

Minimum Credentials Required for Dental Hygiene:

  • Current knowledge of the specific subjects candidate would be teaching
  • Documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments
  • For didactic instruction candidates must also have an earned baccalaureate degree, or be currently enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program

NOTE: faculty who are dental hygienists must be graduates of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)

Minimum Credentials Required for Drafting and Design Technology:

  • An earned Associate’s degree or higher in a Drafting and Design related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • And 3 years or more employment experience in Drafting and Design

Minimum Credentials Required for Industrial Maintenance Technology / Industrial Systems Technology :

  • At least five years of employment experience in Industrial Maintenance
  • Or an earned Associate’s degree or higher in an Industrial Maintenance related discipline and 3 years industry experience

Minimum Credentials Required for Diesel Technology:

  • earned Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • ASE Certification (or ability to acquire certification in the appropriate ASE areas within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid Missouri teaching certificate with the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (or be willing to obtain current teaching certificate in secondary and post-secondary education form the State of Missouri at the applicants’ expense)
  • Five years of employment experience in the industry or related field
  • Demonstrated current knowledge in course content
  • Ability to manage a lab space that is well-organized and will allow for safe, productive, and effective student learning
  • Available to teach daytime, evening, or weekend courses, as needed

    • Linguistics

Alternative qualifications (tested experience) may be used.  To be considered qualified through tested experience, a candidate must meet all of the following criteria:

  • An earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Formal recognition of competence in German through an approved external language proficiency test
  • NOTE: previous classroom teaching experience is highly preferred

Minimum Credentials Required for Hire to Teach in Health and Wellness:

  • An earned Master’s degree in Physical Education, Counseling, Public Health or a Nursing degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Or an earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a combination of the following qualifying fields:
    • Physical Education
    • Counseling
    • Public Health

  • An earned Master’s degree in Music from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

Minimum Credentials Required for Occupational Therapy Assistant:

  • Occupational therapy assistant with a Baccalaureate Degree or higher or an occupational therapist with a Master’s Degree or higher from a program accredited by a USDE-recognized regional institution or the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
  • Previous experience as a COTA or as an OT supervisor for COTAs
  • Current unrestricted state license as an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for state license
  • Current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Teaching experience in either classroom, clinical, in-service and/or continuing education presentations.

Minimum Credentials Required for Hire to Teach in Philosophy:

  • An earned Master’s degree in Philosophy from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

For EMT-B Instructor:

  • Current Missouri licensure, National Registry, or other state license or certification as a paramedic
  • And at least 2 years clinical experience as an EMT-P, EMT-B, or licensure as a registered nurse or physician with at least 2 years clinical experience
  • OR successful completion of an instructor-training program that meets or exceeds the United States Department of Transportation EMS Instructor Curriculum which is incorporated by reference in this rule as published in 2002 by the U.S. Department of Transportation

For EMT-P and EMT-I Instructor:

  • Current Missouri licensure, National Registry, or other state license or certification as a paramedic
  • And at least 2 years clinical experience as an EMT-P, or licensure as a registered nurse or physician with at least 2 years clinical experience
  • Or successful completion of an instructor training program that meets or exceeds the United States Department of Transportation EMS Instructor Curriculum. Competent in adult education theory and clinical skills consistent with the most current EMT-P National Standard Curriculum and the National Scope of Practice for EMT-P

Minimum Credentials Required for Aviation:

  •  An earned Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • 5 years of technical experience in the aviation industry
  • Ability to connect with the Aviation Industry
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • the world of aviation

    • airline operations
    • air transportation
