I was born and raised in New Zealand, but I have a Ph.D. in history from the University of London, Great Britain. I married an American and immigrated in 1982. I have taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Missouri State University and Drury University. My fields of interest are the history of women and the family, and the history of China. I have two daughters, the second adopted from China, and my resulting fascination with China has developed into my online History of China course, which included twelve days in China in late May. I took OTC student to China until 2019, but now I am developing our new Peru program.
