{"id":68352,"date":"2024-08-28T14:28:56","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T14:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/springfieldtesting\/?page_id=68352"},"modified":"2025-01-06T18:06:28","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T18:06:28","slug":"what-to-expect-in-testing-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/springfieldtesting\/what-to-expect-in-testing-services\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Expect in Testing Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<em>Wondering what you need to know about taking an exam with Testing Services on the Ozarks Tech Springfield Campus?<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>What do I need to do before my test day?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.registerblast.com\/otcspringfield\/User\/LoginStep\">Sign-up ahead of time<\/a><\/strong> for the date and time you would like to take your exam<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pick one time slot for EACH test you\u2019ll be taking that day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For more information on how to schedule an exam, visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/springfieldtesting\/scheduling-exams-help\/\">Scheduling Help Page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If\u00a0 you&#8217;re taking a <strong>make-up exam<\/strong> (early OR late), make sure you <strong>coordinate with your instructor<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some proctored events\u00a0<strong><em>cannot<\/em><\/strong> be taken with Testing Services:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proctored Event assignments where you just upload a picture of yourself and\/or your ID<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COM-100\/105 Proctored Event &#8211; those are done with the <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/speechcenter\/contact-us\/#1458249086953-970ceb40-7257\">Speech Communication Center<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you plan to use an accommodation other than extended time, those need to be taken with <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/disabilitysupport\/\">Disability Support Services<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What do I need to do on test day?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If you need to <strong>use the restroom<\/strong>, go ahead and do that <strong>before<\/strong> coming to <strong>check in<\/strong> for your exam!<\/li>\n<li>Come to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/springfieldtesting\/contact-us\/\">ICE 123A<\/a><\/strong> (east end of the Information Commons &#8211; you&#8217;ll see signs once you&#8217;re close)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Arrive 15 min before check-in<\/strong> to account for lines and technical issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Please <strong>wait behind the stop sign<\/strong> until you are called to the Front Desk to check in<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have a <strong>valid photo ID<\/strong> with you, and be prepared to show it to the Front Desk staff<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Types of accepted ID:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ozarks Tech Student ID<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Driver\u2019s\/Non-Driver&#8217;s License<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Passport<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Know your <strong>student ID number<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please know your <strong>instructor&#8217;s name<\/strong>, and your <strong>course name<\/strong> (e.g. MTH 130)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you bring your own <strong>calculator<\/strong>, it <strong>will be inspected<\/strong> at check-in<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For <strong>online exams<\/strong>, make sure you know your Ozarks Tech <strong>username and password<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the same login info you use with Canvas and your Ozarks Tech email account<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any specific instructions for your exam will be given during check-in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What happens during my exam?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be prepared to follow <strong>Testing Center guidelines<\/strong>, which include:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Speak quietly<\/strong>, when necessary, so as not to disturb fellow testers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Smartwatches and phones<\/strong> must be turned <\/span><b>off<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <strong>stored<\/strong> on our shelves<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Hats and sunglasses<\/strong> must be <strong>removed<\/strong> and stored<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Be considerate<\/strong> toward those around you<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>No food or drink<\/strong> <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drinks may be placed on the shelves at the side of the room, but may not be at a testing station<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Exams MUST be turned in by closing time. <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>NO EXCEPTIONS.<\/strong> Please plan accordingly.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>See our <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.otc.edu\/springfieldtesting\/hours\/\">hours<\/a> for more info<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Scratch paper<\/strong> must be <strong>turned in<\/strong> or placed in <strong>recycling bin<\/strong> before leaving the testing room<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Resources<\/strong> Testing Services provides:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earplugs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pencils<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scratch paper<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientific calculators, when allowed\/applicable<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friendly assistance (<strong>raise your hand<\/strong> if you need help at any point &#8211;
