Guided Self Placement Resources for Students’ Old Page

Check the Requirements

When deciding which entry level English, Math, or Reading courses you should take, your first step should be to check the requirements of the certificate or program you are planning to earn. Depending on your certificate or program, you may have only one entry level English, Math, or Reading option – or you may not be required to take any entry level English, Math, or Reading courses at all.

  • Current OTC students should check their degree audit in the Student Planning tab of OTC Central.
  • Not at OTC student yet? Check the requirements in the Programs of Study area in our  course catalog

Check the Course Sequences

Now that you have checked the requirements of your program, you need to see if there are any prerequisite courses you need to get to your end goal.  A prerequisite course is a course you must take before you are eligible to take another course.  Check the course sequences below to see if you will need to take any prerequisite courses.
