There are no platform constraints. Dozens of national, peer-reviewed studies have been conducted on OER use in higher education over the past five years.\u00a0<strong>None<\/strong> of these studies showed results in which students who utilized OER performed worse than their peers who used traditional textbooks or course materials. A few notable programs include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.achievingthedream.org\/resources\/initiatives\/open-educational-resources-oer-degree-initiative\">Achieving the Dream&#8217;s OER Initiative<\/a> involves 38 community colleges in 13 states<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcc.edu\/academics\/degrees\/textbook-free\">Tidewater Community College&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0Z-Degree was the first zero-textbook-cost degree program in the US<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maricopa.edu\/why-maricopa\/maricopa-millions\">Maricopa Community Colleges&#8217;<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;Maricopa Millions&#8221; program has saved students more than $10 million since 2013<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/internal.lcc.edu\/resources\/oer\/\">Lansing Community College<\/a>\u00a0has implemented OER in more than 25 courses<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sparcopen.org\/our-work\/open-textbooks-fy18\/\">federal FY18 Omnibus bill<\/a> includes $5 million in funding for an open textbook grant program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space]<div id=\"ultimate-heading-8021679edca2586a7\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-8021679edca2586a7 uvc-8177  uvc-heading-default-font-sizes\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"center\" style=\"text-align:center\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-8021679edca2586a7 h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"--font-weight:theme;\">How can I find OER?<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The good news is that OER are proliferating rapidly; the bad news is that currently, they are very distributed (no single, centralized repository exists).
