Rick is the guitar faculty member at OTC. He started his OTC teaching career by instructing adult continuing education guitar classes in the mid-1990s and graduated to teaching credit classes in 2008. Rick began his college career in 1984 as a student at St. Louis Community College at Meramec where he credits his music teacher, Robert Howard, with inspiring him to teach in a community college setting. After completing an AA in Arts – Music he received his Bachelor in Music – Classical Guitar Performance from SMSU, followed by Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Music Therapy. In addition to being a guitar instructor, Rick is a nationally board-certified music therapist and was in private practice for over 2 years before returning to teach credit classes at OTC. As a classical guitarist, Rick has performed in weddings, corporate events and restaurants in the St. Louis and Springfield-Branson area. He has been the lead guitar player in multiple rock, classic rock, and blues bands; performing in Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque Mexico, in addition to many venues in the Springfield-Branson area. Rick has had the distinct honor of opening for B.B.
