Rather, a plan is developed which lays out a student&#8217;s accommodations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">A college education is a privilege instead of a right; therefore, special programs are not required.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">Students are considered to be adults and must advocate for themselves.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">Accommodations are provided to ensure equal access. Success is the responsibility of the student.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">The student must self-identify and provide appropriate and current documentation based on the college\u2019s requirements. The college is not responsible for the cost of evaluations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">Students sign for themselves.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle1\">The Buckley Amendment\/FERPA requires the student give written permission for school personnel <span class=\"fontstyle0\">to speak with parents, faculty, funding sources, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_zigzag color=&#8221;green&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;~ ACADEMIC DIFFERENCES ~&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%231e73be&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0<span class=\"fontstyle0\">High School<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">School personnel have the responsibility to trying to shape inappropriate behaviors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Shortened and\/or modified assignments and exams are often given as accommodations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Teachers are asked to adapt their teaching mode to the student.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Students may be scheduled with resource personnel on a regular basis or come to the resource room as needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Students\u2019 studies are directed by special education teachers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Special educators inform instructors about a student\u2019s accommodation needs.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Deaf\/Hard of Hearing students have interpreting services provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"fontstyle0\">College<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Students are responsible for their own behavior and inappropriate behavior will be addressed according to the student handbook.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">All students are expected to complete the same tests and assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Faculty have academic freedom in regard to the selection, delivery, and evaluation of course content.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Students must initiate requests for disability support services and accommodations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Students must have skills to organize, plan and study independently.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"fontstyle0\">After accommodations have been determined, the student speaks with their instructors about their accommodation needs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Deaf\/Hard of Hearing students must request interpreting services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_zigzag color=&#8221;green&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;~ OTHER DIFFERENCES ~&#8221;
