The hybrid program is a combination of online activities (videos, discussions, quizzes, exams, remediation, etc. ) and in person activities (labs, clinical, standardized exams, etc.).\u00a0 Faculty are available to students through on line sources such as video conferencing, phone or by appointment in their office.\u00a0 Additionally faculty are available at labs, simulation, and most clinical experiences[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How does lecture work?”]<\/p>\n
Content is introduced each week in videos.\u00a0 Most videos are 10-20 minutes in length.\u00a0 The number of video\u2019s each week is dependent on the content.\u00a0 Each week the content is supported with assignments such as online discussion forums and adaptive quizzing.\u00a0 Unit exams are given online with an online proctoring service.<\/p>\n
How much time should be devoted to lecture?<\/strong><\/p>\n In general, the recommendation is that students should anticipate studying 2-3 hours per credit hour. This does not include the time that it takes to complete class and clinical assignments or time spent in labs or clinical experiences.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How many clinical experiences, lab experiences, and simulation experiences are there?”]<\/p>\n Clinical Experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n During each course you will attend clinical experiences.\u00a0 Plan to be in clinical at least one day each week. There may be exceptions\u00a0when you would have two clinical days in one week.\u00a0 \u00a0The majority of our clinical experiences are 12 hours, with some exceptions.<\/p>\n Lab Experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n During both ASN 200 and ASN 210, you will have lab experiences.\u00a0 The lab experiences in ASN 210 will be in the first 2 weeks of the course. \u00a0The program schedules lab experiences throughout the program if necessary for clinical make-up time. It may also do so if the faculty feel that it is necessary to assist the student with any needed competencies.<\/p>\n Simulation Experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n The program schedules\u00a0simulation\u00a0in ASN 210, 215, 225, 230, 235<\/span> to support the attainment of clinical competencies in these courses. \u00a0The program may schedule simulation labs at other times as needed throughout the ASN program[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I complete my clinical experiences close to where I live?”]<\/p>\n The OTC ASN program is a pre-licensure program. This program is subject to the Minimum Standards of Approved Programs of Professional Nursing from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.\u00a0 Each clinical experience needs to meet certain requirements.
