The Health Information Technology Certificate represents medical coding training. Students who complete this certificate are eligible to apply and take the national coding credential exams CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based) administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Some employment opportunities with this certificate are Entry-level staff positions in health information management and physician offices. If you complete this certificate and earn a national coding credential (CCS or CCS-P), your employment opportunities can be (but not limited to): Coding Specialist, Coding Auditor, and Billing Specialist.
