Amelia Horras is a Math teacher for Middle College. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She then taught middle school at Phelps Center for Gifted Education prior to teaching at Middle College. While she enjoyed her time teaching middle school, she was very excited at the opportunity to join the Middle College staff. Ms. Horras has a passion for alternative education and loves teaching at such an outstanding program. She strives to create a real world learning experience for students that applies math concepts to their daily lives. Ms. Horras is also the assistant soccer coach at Parkview High School for the girls’ soccer team. In her free time she helps sponsor a robot club for the middle school students at Phelps. She stays active by playing soccer, running in races, and riding her bike. Ms. Horras loves cooking and eating, spending time with her family and friends, but most of all she loves being an educator.
